Tremblant 2026-27 Ski Season: Opening Date, New Learning Area and Timber Summit
The countdown to ski season has started in the Laurentides. Tremblant, the region’s flagship resort, is scheduled to open its 2026-27 season on November 26, 2026, and this winter brings the first visible piece of a $42.5 million expansion on the Versant Soleil side of the mountain. Here is what skiers, families and weekend visitors from Montreal need to know before the first chairlift turns.
Tremblant opening day 2026: the planned dates
Ski guides that track resort calendars list Tremblant’s planned opening for November 26, 2026 and its planned closing for April 18, 2027, a season of roughly 143 days. As every year, opening day depends on cold nights for snowmaking, so the first weekend usually starts with a limited number of trails served from the summit before the lower runs connect to the pedestrian village.
The mountain itself remains one of the largest in Eastern Canada: about 102 trails spread over four slopes, a 645-metre vertical drop, 14 lifts and snowmaking on more than 85% of the skiable terrain. The longest run, Nansen, stretches about 6 km. If you are comparing it with other hills in the region, our guide to the best ski resorts in the Laurentides puts Tremblant side by side with Saint-Sauveur and the smaller family mountains.
What’s new this winter: a beginner learning area on Versant Soleil
The headline novelty for 2026-27 is a dedicated learning zone at the base of Versant Soleil, right next to the Casino Express gondola. According to the details released by the resort in September, the area covers about 1.1 acres with a gentle average slope of roughly 13 degrees.
- A covered magic carpet (surface lift) to bring beginners back up without stress.
- Full snowmaking coverage, so the zone can open even when natural snow is late.
- Open on weekends and during peak periods, and used for Snow School lessons.
For families, this is a meaningful change. Until now, first-timers often learned in busier zones near the main village. A separate, quieter area on the Soleil side should make the first days on skis or a snowboard far more comfortable for children and adults alike.
Timber Summit: eight new trails for the 2027-28 season
The learning area is phase one. The bigger project, called Timber Summit, is planned to open for the 2027-28 winter. It will add around 62 acres of new skiable terrain and eight trails: seven descending toward Versant Soleil and one toward the North Side.
Key numbers for Timber Summit
- Terrain mix: about 35% beginner, 60% intermediate and 5% expert.
- A new detachable high-speed quad, the Timber Express, with a capacity of 2,400 skiers per hour.
- Lift length of about 1,800 metres with a 423-metre vertical rise and 125 chairs.
- Full snowmaking on the new trails and a goal of raising overall lift capacity by about 10%.
The terrain mix leans clearly toward intermediate cruisers, which should spread crowds away from the busiest runs on the South Side during holiday weeks.
Club Med Tremblant: the long-term picture
The Versant Soleil expansion is closely tied to another major project: Club Med Tremblant, a ski-in/ski-out all-inclusive resort confirmed for that side of the mountain. Construction started this fall, and the opening is targeted for December 2028. It will be Club Med’s second resort in Canada, after Club Med Québec Charlevoix. Together, the new trails and the resort signal that Tremblant is building a second hub away from the main pedestrian village.
Planning a ski trip to Tremblant this winter
Where to stay
Holiday weeks and February weekends fill up early. The pedestrian village is the most convenient base, while Mont-Tremblant’s downtown and Saint-Jovite offer better prices. Compare ski-in/ski-out options on our sister site Laurentides Hotels, or look at a private chalet with a hot tub on Laurentides Chalets if you are travelling as a group. Our Mont-Tremblant town guide also breaks down each area, and you can browse our picks of the best cabins in the Laurentides.
Getting there safely
Tremblant is roughly a 90-minute drive from Montreal via Autoroute 15 and Route 117. Remember that winter tires are mandatory in Quebec from December 1 to March 15, and the Ministère des Transports reminded drivers on October 19, 2026 that offenders face fines of $200 to $300. Details are on the Government of Quebec winter tires page. For coverage questions before a road trip, see our Laurentides insurance guide.
Beyond the slopes
A good ski weekend is also about the evenings. Mix your days on the mountain with snowshoeing, dog sledding or a Nordic spa: our lists of things to do in the Laurentides in winter and the best spas in the Laurentides are a good start. If you are flying in from elsewhere in Canada, BookingHotel.ca’s Mont-Tremblant guide covers travel logistics, and Montreal food lovers can plan a stopover with Restaurant Montreal.
